As a Museum and Library, our mission is to promote and celebrate the understanding and enjoyment of the arts and humanities in Canajoharie, the Mohawk Valley, and beyond.

We provide year-round educational programming and cannot guarantee that your preferred event date will be available.

The Great Hall

Large and open with natural light pouring in from high windows, this space is a unique location for receptions, business meetings, and seminars. The Great Hall is a public space slightly set off from the Museum Galleries and access to the elevator.

Rental Charge: $150 per hour; 2 Hour Minimum

Rental Capacity: 120 seated at tables (banquet style); 160 seated in lecture format.

Layout Options: Banquet, Lecture Format, U layout, Boardroom, Auditorium, Cocktail, Mixed

Room Dimensions: 36’ x 72’= 2,600 square feet

Included: Set up and breakdown of tables and chairs (handled by staff only), power, and data (wireless) connections.

Renters may also choose to add specific services to the hourly base rate such as access to the kitchen or gallery admission; additional fees apply.

The Great Hall is a public space and Museum/Library visitors have access during standard open hours. Large group rentals must take place during non-operating hours: between 6-10PM Tuesdays-Sundays.

The Memorial Garden

Built by Bartlett Arkell in memory of his wife Louisanna Grigsby Arkell, the Memorial Garden is a picturesque location for photographs, small ceremonies, and cocktail hours. It is suitable for events that require limited seating. Located off the Great Hall, the Memorial Garden is a public space and only available for private events during non-operating hours. The lower tier of the Garden is accessible via low steps. The Museum & Library cannot provide set up for this space; renter set up must be approved by the Museum & Library. Memorial Garden rental can be added to an existing rental; Memorial Garden rental alone does not include any extra services.

The Café Tables

Take a break and enjoy lunch in our Café seating area!

With four two-person tables available, this is a great spot to bring your own lunch, catch up with a friend, or simply relax during your visit. Enjoy the scenic garden views from the comfort of indoors and recharge before continuing your walk through the galleries and our beautiful library.

The Café tables are available on a “First come, First serve” basis.

The classroom

The classroom is the perfect space for small lectures, events, and business gatherings. The light court located in the Memorial Garden allows natural light to flood this private room located in the lower level (accessible via elevator). Opaque screens can be lowered to create a more personal space and improve computer screen/ projected image clarity.

Rental Charge: $40 per hour

Rental Capacity: 20 seated at tables; 30 in lecture format

Room Dimensions: 25’ x 17’= 425 square feet

Included: Set up and breakdown of tables and chairs (handled by staff only), power, and data (wireless) connections.

Renters may also choose to add specific services to the hourly base rate such as access to the kitchen or organization equipment use; additional fees apply.

The Teen Room

Our Teen Section is a welcoming space designed just for young readers and learners! With a table and chairs for hanging out, studying, or playing board games with friends, it is the perfect spot to get out of the house, relax, and discover your next favorite book.

Whether you are looking for a quiet place to unwind or a fun space to connect with friends, the Teen Section has something for everyone!

The Teen Section is available on a “First come, First serve” basis.

The Canajoharie Library opened “for the loaning of books” on September 28, 1925. Built from the This is a photo of the original Library building that now serves as our Reading Room. You can see chandeliers lighting the two tables and chairs below.

The Reading Room

Need a quiet place to focus? The Reading Room offers the perfect space for tutoring sessions, homework, studying, small meetings, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment with a good book. It has a calm atmosphere, comfortable seating and is available on a “First come, First serve” basis.
