Adult Guided Tours

Adult Guided tours are available by appointment.

Groups of 8 or fewer cost $20 total plus price of admission.

Every additional person is $5 plus price of admission.

School Tours

Tour Themes

  • The Arkell Museum features an extensive collection of American paintings, sculpture, Mohawk Valley history, and Beech-Nut advertising memorabilia from the early 20th century.

    Take a walk and talk with Curator of Education and Public Engagement, Mary Alexander, through our permanent and rotating galleries, as well as our three Regional Art spaces that showcase the talents of local artists.

    Tours are approximately 45 minutes in length and can modified and adjusted to fit the interest of the party.

  • Using visual thinking strategies, students will embark on an art journey learning to find meaning in works of American fine art. This creative program engages students in investigating, looking closely, and making inferences about what they see.

    • Programs are 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

    • Group size up to 30 (larger groups welcome, additional fees apply).

    • Programs are modified for age of students.

    • All programs can be altered to fit required learning standards and classroom goals.

    *Chaperones are expected to monitor the group and help encourage good museum manners as laid out by the museum instructor at the beginning of the visit.

    School programs designed to cover NYS Learning Standards for the Arts:

  • Students will use language arts skills to determine what is happening in a painting. Then students will work independently or as a group to write creative narratives about works of art in the galleries.

    • Programs are 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

    • Group size up to 30 (larger groups welcome, additional fees apply).

    • Programs are modified for age of students.

    • All programs can be altered to fit required learning standards and classroom goals.
